Little Red in the Studio: A Cosplay Photoshoot with Kay Rocknroll Brown

Hey everyone,

I’m thrilled to share my latest photoshoot with the incredible Kay Rocknroll Brown. For the past year or so, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kay, who is not only a fantastic model but also a talented director and writer. You might know her from The Junky Warrior (check her out on IMDB here). Kay’s enthusiasm and creativity make every project a blast, and recently, she’s been dipping her toes into the world of cosplay.

For this shoot, Kay transformed into Little Red Riding Hood. Her bright red outfit created a perfect opportunity for some striking contrast. I had a midnight blue backdrop that I originally bought for a Firestarter photoshoot but had never used. It turned out to be the perfect complement to Kay’s vibrant costume. While shooting in the mountains or a forest would have been ideal, there’s something magical about the controlled lighting in a studio that allows for a unique look and feel.

For this shoot, I used a beauty dish setup with an overhead light and a 4-foot softbox to one side. I love this setup for its ability to create beautiful, even lighting with nice shadows along the jawline. However, it can be tricky when the model is wearing a hood or hat. In Kay’s case, I had to carefully adjust the light to avoid unwanted shadows while still maintaining the desired dramatic effect.

Kay was fantastic to work with, as always, and I’m excited to share these photos with you. Enjoy these shots of Little Red Riding Hood with a twist!
